F.A.C.S. actually stands for Family and Consumer Sciences. This class use to be known as Home Economics and while we do cover SOME of the same topics in the traditional FACS class, we also cover a lot more.
There are MANY things that could fit into the FACS curriculum but here at Wydown we focus on three main topics; Foods, Child Care, and Sewing.
Topics include safety, sanitation, following a recipe, measuring, and more!
We will end this unit with a "Chopped Challenge" to demonstrate your cooking abilities!
Basic FACS covers topics like responsibilities of a babysitter, CPR, and safety.
Exploring FACS (8th Grade) covers more of the prenatal development and infant care.
We cover some basic stitches, tools, sewing machines, and then take these skills to create a project or two.
Exploring FACS students will all learn to follow a pattern to create a pair of functional lounge/sleep shorts.
