I am a native of St. Louis who *LOVES* being a St. Louisian! I attended Southeast Missouri State University, where I double majored in English and Secondary Education, with minors in Literature, Composition, and Gender Studies, and received my Education Specialization in Secondary English. I hold a Master’s degree in English Literature from the University of Missouri—St. Louis and am currently in school at Missouri State University to get my Library Certification. I am a certified teacher in Middle School and Secondary English, as well as Middle School and Secondary Social Studies.
This is my 21st year teaching, and I find more and more to love about my job every year. I've taught grades 6-12 and am returning to 7th after 17 years, and am so looking forward to getting to know my new students and see familiar faces from last year.
I love to read, kayak, camp, travel, laugh, try new restaurants, talk about both very silly and very important things, visit my favorite St. Louis attractions, and of course, watch Blues hockey and Cardinals baseball!
I live in south city with my husband, Ben, our two children, and our two cats: Storm-Thundercloud-Rainbow-Sparkles (the sweetheart), and her kitten, Daisy (the evil genius).
I believe in celebrating quirks and idiosyncrasies, random acts of kindness, and beautiful accidents, and I encourage my students to do the same.
