Homework assignments will be provided for daily practice and graded for completion on the following scale:
M: Missing
1: Incomplete
2: Complete
Homework assignments will be linked on the class syllabus and can be submitted/resubmitted for full credit until the date of that particular Unit Test. Feedback is often provided to aid students in their understanding of the content.
Exit Tickets or "Show What You Know" will be entered into PowerSchool under the same category as homework assignments but it will not be counted toward the student's final grade. This will serve as a way to log student's understanding levels as we progress through each unit.
Quizzes serve as quick formative check ins which allows me to see where students are at in their current level of understanding. Feedback will be provided and retakes will be available (only one retake per quiz - see below for more information).
Unit Tests serve as an end of unit summative check for your student. Feedback will be provided and retakes will be available (only one retake per test - see below for more information).
In order to retake an assessment, students must do the following:
Complete corrections on a separate piece of paper of the problems the incorrect problems on their original assessment. This entails re-working the question(s) and making sure the student is aware of their mathematical error.
The student must set up a time to meet with Mrs. McGehee outside of class time to review their corrections. This will also serve as a time for students to seek further clarification on their errors.
The student must complete the retake after school in the library testing center. This is available Monday-Thursday from 3:15-4:15. Students must make their request to complete a retake 24 hours in advance.
Q1: What if I receive a worse grade on my retake than on my original assessment?
A1: Mrs. McGehee will keep the better score in PowerSchool but will document both scores in the comment section of that particular grade.
Q2: I only missed a few questions - do I have to retake the whole assessment?
A2: No! You are welcome to retake only certain questions on an assessment.
