Glenridge Kid Zone
Kid Zone News
Happy Monday! We hope you all had a great weekend. The KZ teachers and I can't wait to hear all about it. A huge thank you to everyone who came to the Full Day last Friday. Check out what's happening in KZ this week below!
Event for this week:
Today, Monday, April 29th, is our final session of Tie Dye K-Club. The club will run from 4:00 to 5:00 (most likely in small groups). We'll be dying the item we tied last week. If your child is not here today, don't worry; we'll get it done sometime this week, but please try to let me know beforehand so we can plan a time to get it done. Your children will receive their finished item by the end of the week. Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions.
There will be no K-Club in May.
KZ Registration for 24-25 School Year:
Last Monday, April 22nd was the last day of priority registration for the upcoming school year (2024-2025)!
Program offerings at the elementary schools for the 2024-2025 school year will consist of AM full-time, PM full-time, and AM/PM full-time. (Family Center offerings will include 2-, 3- and 4-day options for FC classes that meet 2, 3, or 4 days a week.)
Families will be advised of acceptance into the program or waitlist status via email from lindavillaire@claytonschools.net no later than May 20.
Friendly Reminders:
If you need to add a new pick-up person to your child(ren) list, please email me their name and a good phone number, and I will add them.
Quick update: When picking up your child, please enter your codes carefully on the tablet at the sign-out station near Ms. M's office. This will ensure a quick and easy sign-out process. Remember to select your child's name, making it bold before finishing, or else it'll show an error and won't be completed.
Please contact me with any questions, comments, or concerns. I'm always here to help.
Let's have a fantastic week!

K-Clubs
The April K-Club is Tie Dye Club!
Tie Dye K-Club runs on Mondays from 4:30 to 5:30 for four weeks, starting April 8th and ending April 29th.
Clubs are theme-based continuous clubs that run weekly on the same day with a specific focus. Clubs have a limited capacity of 30 students. Students who sign up for clubs will participate in their club, while other students participate in free-choice activities. Flyers for clubs will be located by the tablet at the sign-out area.
Tie Dye K-Club with Ms. M and Ms. Stahlheber:
This club will run from 4:30 PM to 5:30 PM.
Get ready for a colorful adventure! Join Tie Dye K- Club and learn the art of tie-dyeing while unleashing your creativity. In this fun-filled club, participants will master tie-dye techniques and color theory while developing their fine motor, organizational, and communication skills.
Each week, we'll provide you with a new item to dye, and we'll focus on a different dying style every time. And, if you're feeling particularly adventurous, you can bring up to four of your items to tie-dye! Whether you choose to dye our items or yours, all items will be cleaned and dried on-site and ready for wear and return by the end of the week.
Tie-dyeing is more than just a fun activity—it's an educational experience too! We can't wait to see the fantastic designs your children will create. We will ensure everyone has a great time and keeps their energy high throughout the four-week program.
We are excited to welcome kids who didn't participate in the Tie Dye K-Club in October. This is your chance to learn a new skill and express your creativity. But hurry, because spots are limited! If there are any available spots after April 1st, we will open them up to kids who participated in October. We'll let you know if we need to split the group, but our goal is to keep everyone together and have a blast. So, sign up now and get ready to make some incredible tie-dye creations!
Club meets: 4/8, 4/15, 4/22, and 4/29.
Pick Up
If you have yet to make a code in the past, we'll set up Personal IDs and Passwords for you. You will use these to pick up your children, ensuring a safe process for families.
- The code you had from last year should work for this year to pick up your child. No need to worry about updating or changing anything!
If you forget your code, please inform me as soon as possible, preferably before PM KZ so I can generate your codes beforehand. It may take longer to create your code during pick-up if I do not have prior knowledge, as you will not be on our printed lists.
- Please plan some additional time for pick-up because it may be longer for the first few weeks while families get used to the pick-up system.
- The pickup location is at the first door closest to the playground. Look for "Kid Zone" on the door and ring the doorbell.
- A staff member will let parents in and walk to the sign-out desk in the back of the cafeteria by the Kid Zone office.
Kid Zone Snack Policy
“If a snack is brought in, it must be a fruit, vegetable, or peanut/tree nut free and have an ingredients label with it. If a package or label cannot be sent with a snack, a picture of the ingredients label must be emailed to the Kid Zone Site Leader.
- If the snack contains peanuts/tree nuts or was made in a factory that processes nuts, or no label is provided, the student will be asked to put the snack away.
- If a student has health or dietary restriction concerns with the snack being offered for the day, an alternative snack may be offered. If alternative snack arrangements need to be made due to other allergies or dietary restrictions, the family should contact the Site Leader to create a snack plan.” - Kid Zone parent handbook.
Toys From Home
- Kid Zone adheres to classroom expectations. Personal items and toys are not allowed and will be stored in backpacks or a safe location.
- If your child requires fidgets, please email me to add them to our list of kids permitted to use them.
Cell Phones/Personal Electronic Devices
We recognize our students have increasing access to and use personal devices for multiple educational and personal purposes.
- In order to maintain a healthy, learning-focused environment, students are not permitted to use cell phones in class. If a parent or caregiver desires their child to carry a cell phone or similar device, the device must remain turned off and stored in the student’s backpack during the school day. Smart watches and similar wearable devices should be placed in airplane mode to reduce the distraction of notifications.
- It may be necessary for adults supporting the classroom to use their mobile devices to complete Kid Zone-related needs. In addition, exceptions to this rule may apply based on accommodations included in a student’s 504 or IEP plan.
- Parents are encouraged to contact/call/text our Kid Zone cell phone to communicate messages to their child in lieu of texting or calling the student’s device.
- If any electronic device is being used inappropriately, the student will be asked to put it away in their backpack or leave it with Kid Zone staff for safekeeping until pick up.
Dress for Weather
Here is a friendly reminder for when the outside temperatures are too cold.
As the weather gets colder, please ensure your child(ren) is dressed appropriately. All children must wear a coat outside if the temperature drops below 50 degrees. We try to go out as much as possible, so it's essential to have them prepared. They can wear gloves, scarves, and hats as it gets colder. Please label your child's clothing with their name so we can return it if it gets lost. We usually stay outside for about an hour, depending on the weather. However, please keep in mind that due to staffing issues, there may be times when we cannot send a teacher to retrieve any forgotten belongings. If your child forgets their belongings, they can borrow something from the lost and found. Otherwise, they will have to stay inside. Please remind them to return the borrowed items when they come back inside. Thank you for your cooperation and understanding.
