Welcome to our math class!! I am Jamie Watts. I have lived in Clay County all of my life, except for the three years I lived in Jacksonville, AL, while working on my undergraduate degree in Communications/Print Journalism at Jacksonville State University. I went back to JSU eight years ago to earn a Master's degree in Math Education. This is now my eighth year teaching high school math! I am super excited for you to see my classroom. I am currently the only National Board Certified Teacher at Central High School.
...to improve the lives of those around me.
...to spread optimism and hope.
...to make the teaching experience fun and relevant for the students as well as for myself.
...to expect more of the student than he expects of himself.
...to challenge the student to go beyond her own perceived limitations.
...to be a great listener and a great role model of high integrity.
...to provide a hunger for students to want to learn more.
...to help the next generation fulfill their potential and become successful human beings.
...to always expect more of myself as a teacher with ongoing training and development.
You will notice that I only have six desks in my classroom. The remainder of seating includes leather and overstuffed chairs, pallet benches, stability balls, stools, ottomans, floor cushions and rugs. I want my students to feel at home when they are in may classroom. There are more than 40 different seating options in my classroom.
