This is the time that we dive deep into stories! We analyze story elements, compare, contrast, predict, and so much more! We have 11 Domains (units)  that we learn about in Knowledge.

Skills

This is the time that we strengthen our mastery on phonics. Students learn many phonics skills in first grade! This skills are very vital in becoming a successful reader! 

Spelling Words

Each week your child is sent home with a list of spelling words on the Weekly Newsletters. On Wednesday, we take a pre-test. If your child makes a 100% they do not take the test on Friday. If your child does not make 100% on Wedenesday, it is imporant to continue studying each night as we will test again on Friday! 

Vocabulary Words

These words reiterate phonics skills we have went over in class. It is important to let your child practice reading these words at home! (These words are found in the back of their BLUE folder.)  Your child will be tested over the vocabulary words each week, on Thursdays. Please see the Weekly Newsletter to know what set of words we are on for the week!
