The purpose of the Reformed Church in America, together with all other churches of Christ, is to minister to the total life of all people by preaching, teaching, and proclaiming the gospel of Jesus Christ, the Son of God, and by all Christian good works. That purpose is achieved most effectively when good order and proper discipline are maintained by means of certain offices, governmental agencies, and theological and liturgical standards (BCO, Preamble).
The Classis of New Brunswick fulfills this purpose by covenanting together to support our ministers, elders, and churches as they fulfill their call to carry the gospel of Jesus Christ to all creation. As in the church, the Classis can do its work best when each member seeks to follow the example of Christ in service in the Classis as well as in their local church.
The Classis of New Brunswick is an assembly and judicatory of the Reformed Church in America (RCA), organized in accordance with Chapter 1, Part II of the RCA Book of Church Order (BCO). The Classis acts under the authority of the RCA Constitution, these bylaws, and the policies approved by the Classis when regularly convened. The Classis is incorporated according to the laws of the State of New Jersey.
