Counselor's Corner
Counselor's Corner
We know that sometimes students need a little extra support — and that’s okay! If you have concerns about your child or feel they could benefit from talking with the school counselor, you can complete the referral form ----->
Students may be referred for things like:
Friendship or peer challenges
Big feelings such as worry, sadness, or frustration
Family changes or transitions
Trouble focusing or staying motivated
Building confidence or managing emotions
Our goal is to work together with families and teachers to make sure every student feels supported, understood, and ready to do their best at school.
We are ending the year with two traits that matter beyond the classroom: Honesty to stay true, and creativity to make your mark!
For Unit 6, our focus is on Honesty & Creativity; being truthful in what we say and do and using your imagination to create something new or solve a problem. Honesty builds character, and creativity sparks possibility - the perfect way to finish the year strong! 🐻
Honesty grows when kids feel safe admitting mistakes without fear of harsh punishment.
Let kids hear adults say things like:
"I made a mistake."
"I forgot."
"I need to fix that."
Instead of giving every answer, ask:
"What do you think we could try?"
"Can you think of another way?"
Free play, drawing, building, music, storytelling, and imaginative games all help creativity grow
Celebrate trying something new - not just getting the "right" answer
Kids are more creative when they know their thoughts won't be criticized immediately
Choosing outfits, planning snacks, or organizing activities builds confidence and independent thinking
Books, nature walks, museums, cooking, and travel all inspire curiosity and creativity
Teach kids to speak respectfully and truthfully:
“I'm feeling ____"
"That hurt my feelings."
"I need help."
Remind kids that being themselves and thinking differently are strengths!!
