Choir

Welcome to the choir page! We are so excited to begin the choral tradition at Standing Bear High School. We are committed to helping students grow in their musical knowledge, appreciation, and skills, as well as fostering a community where self-expression, collaboration, inclusion, risk-taking, creativity, and empathy flourish.  

Ensembles

• Standing Bear Singers is our 9-12, non-auditioned choir at Standing Bear High School. This ensemble will perform 3-5 concerts throughout the year, sing at District Music Contest, collaborate with Moore Middle School groups, and more! 

• Unified Choir - This ensemble provides students with the opportunity to explore vocal and performance skills, while affording additional opportunities for leadership, community, and camaraderie. Throughout the academic year, Unified Choir performs in multiple concerts.

Extracurricular Opportunities 

• Voice Lessons - We are fortunate to have time for voice lessons baked into the curricular schedule, which allow students to take one-on-one lessons for free. These sessions are a great place to work on technique and get feedback specific to your voice. If you are interested, Mr. Boe will work out a time with you.

• Show Choir - Standing Bear will have a show choir. This year, in an effort to set the entire choir program up for success and due to the scheduling restraints of a small population, show choir will be a component/experience within concert choir. All students interested in vocal music, show choir, etc., will be in the same class at Standing Bear. We made this decision in the spring after a lot of careful thought, as well as conversations with other programs in LPS. Show choir IS going to be a huge part of our vocal offerings at Standing Bear and I am so excited to start that program with the kids. Auditions for next year’s show choir will be held early second semester. Audition elements will be communicated at a later date. 

• Musical - The Spring Musical is an extra-curricular opportunity to practice other styles of singing, improve your chops, and have fun with friends!

• Solo/Small Ensembles - Students have the opportunity to audition for and perform solo or small ensemble pieces at Solo and Small Ensemble Contest.

• All-State Chorus/Honor Choirs - All-State and many other honor choirs are great opportunities for students to grow, experience literature to which they would not otherwise be exposed, and challenge themselves musically. These ensembles are auditioned at different points throughout the year and are separate from the opportunities at Standing Bear.
