LSW EMERALDS DANCE
The LSW Emeralds Dance Program will be a combination of TWO teams for the 2026-2027 season. The Emeralds Performance Team and the Emeralds Competitive Team.
The purpose of Emeralds Performance Team is to promote school/team spirit by performing dance routines and/or sidelines at school events. These opportunities include home varsity football, home basketball (boys and girls) in December, school pep rallies, and any other events selected by the coach. All Emeralds are considered a part of the Performance Team.
The purpose of the Emeralds Competition Team is to represent Lincoln Southwest High School at dance showcases and competitions, Booster Club events, and any other events selected by the coach. They compete and perform at local, state, regional, and national competitions. The competition team is selected by the coach based on technical skills, performance abilities, and the character of the dancer.
All Emeralds are representatives of Lincoln Southwest in and out of school.
Membership on Emeralds offers a unique opportunity for personal growth, leadership and school involvement. The attitude, dedication, and enthusiasm of each squad member are just as important as their technical dance skills. Members must be committed to the highest level of athleticism, performance, self-discipline, respect for the school and others, personal exemplary conduct and the execution of all responsibilities related to the pursuit of school spirit and pride. Dancers must also demonstrate an ability to balance academic requirements and the demands that come with extra-curricular and personal activities.
Any student of Lincoln Southwest who will be at least a Freshman in the coming year is eligible to try out for the dance squads. The candidate’s previous semester GPA must be at least 2.5 with no failing grades. They must currently be enrolled in at least three classes (or at least 15 credit hours). Each member is required to try-out each year to remain on the teams.
