Greetings Irving students, families and staff,
It is hard to believe we are entering into the final month of the school year. As the year concludes, it is a very busy time for all of us, with many end of the year celebrations to look forward to and new journeys/adventures awaiting! It has been a wonderful year and we are continuously proud of our students and thank all families for your support and partnership.
Before/After School Reminders:
Now that the weather is trending in the right direction, many of our students walk or ride their bikes/scooters after school. Please be mindful during morning drop off and after school pick up of students leaving campus. In addition, this information has been shared with students in the daily announcements:
Students are expected to leave school grounds by 3:10 pm each day OR be at intramural practice, school sponsored clubs, Homework Hub or at the Irving Rec Center
The park is NOT an area supervised by Irving staff, but it is monitored by Lincoln Parks & Rec as well as the Lincoln Police Department.
Students making unsafe, irresponsible or disrespectful choices at the park are subject to Parks and Rec staff or Lincoln community members contacting the Lincoln Police Department AND students may be referred (ticketed) to the county attorney for poor choices.
If issues occurring outside of school, disrupt the school day, or take away from learning, students are also subject to earning school consequences.

As the school year winds down and summer approaches, this time of transition can bring both excitement and a shift in routine. While summer offers a well-earned break, keeping a few familiar and consistent elements in place can serve as an anchor for students during the change.
Simple routines such as maintaining a regular bedtime or curfew, setting aside time for reading or household chores, and engaging in physical activity can provide structure and a sense of stability. These small, predictable moments can help everyone feel more in control, even as daily routines shift
At the same time, summer is meant for flexibility, fun, and recharging! Finding a balance between consistent routines and relaxed, unstructured time allows students to enjoy their break while still holding onto habits that support their wellbeing. This balance can make the transition into the next school year feel smoother and more manageable for everyone.
Homework Hub is a fantastic resource available for all Irving students! Several Irving teachers sponsor Homework Hub and help students complete daily homework assignments, complete missing work, study for upcoming assessments and create a space for students to focus on learning and develop strong study habits.
Homework Hub occurs Monday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday afterschool from 3:10 - 4:00. Any student is welcome and sometimes if/when a student has a missing assignment or needs a space to complete an assignment, teachers will reach out to families to assign Hub to ensure students have every opportunity to successfully complete and turn in assignments.
Several Irving teachers are sponsoring Homework Hub! Cathy Mohlman is our Homework Hub liaison & her email address is cmohlman@lps.org.
On May 27, 2026, the district will switch the student information system to the Summer School term. This means up to May 27, 2026, you can review final grades in the ParentVUE Report Card tab. After that date, you can access final grade information from the Documents tab or Course History tab.
Irving students will return their Chromebooks at the end of this school year and recover the same device when they return next fall. As the end of the year draws closer, please make sure your student can locate the charger (2 pieces), the bag/carrying case, and the Chromebook that was issued to them at the beginning of the year. More details will be shared with students and families through official communications in the coming weeks.

After School Program
Lincoln Parks and Recreation has been serving Irving Middle School families after school since 1977. Much has changed in the past 39 years, and we believe supervised, safe, fun, and meaningful after school activities are as important as ever for middle school students. Some students visit the rec. center simply because they need a place to go after school; however, our staff is intentional about making the center "more than just a place to go." After school staff does this by focusing on a positive environment, supportive relationships, and constructive programs. During after school hours at Irving Recreation Center, middle school students have the opportunity to participate in a variety of age-appropriate, fun, and enriching activities. Students can stay as busy as they’d like with homework, clubs, and special events, or they can simply choose to socialize with friends. We encourage all students to be engaged and take advantage of the activity choices available at the rec. center.
