Aside from the college-ready skills and content focus that an AP curriculum provides, grades in AP courses are "weighted," meaning that any grade C and above counts a full letter-grade higher in the student's GPA (so the highest grade possible in an AP course is 5.0). Likewise, students in AP courses can earn college credit through year-end exams administered by the College Board.

The current cost of an AP Exam is $93. This cost is substantially lower than the cost of a 3 credit-hour course at UNL with in-state tuition (around $700):
