Your semester grade will be determined by three components:
1) Quizzes/Presentations = 20% of your grade
2) Midterm Exams I, II, & III = 20% each
Each midterm has 3 possible components:
Objective (Multiple Choice) Exam = 100 points
Essay Exam = 100 points
Take-Home Exam (exams linked on THIS page) = 100 points** NOTE: pay CAREFUL ATTENTION to the bullet points below!
To score well on this component, when completed your Take-Home Exam will be a rather substantial document. Each entry must be 4-5 sentences in length, defining the concept AND explaining its importance.
The Take-Home Exam MUST BE HANDWRITTEN, period. All entries must be completed IN ORDER (see our course webpage for examples of entries that will earn full credit). The Take-Home exam is due the day of the objective exam. It will not be accepted for credit after that date. Absence from school is not an excuse for not turning in your take-home exam on time. Either turn it in early, or use technology as a solution to your problem (take a cell phone picture of each page of your COMPLETED Take-Home exam and email it to me, etc.).
**Students who submit the Take-Home Exam for a given unit will be graded out of 300 possible points on that unit (100 points each for Objective, Essay, and Take-Home). Students who do not submit the Take-Home Exam will be graded out of 200 points on that unit (Objective and Essay). DO NOT SUBMIT LOW-QUALITY TAKE-HOME EXAMS; they will only serve to pull your grade down.
3) Final Exam = 20%
