Mrs. Ruma

Credentials and work experience:

I received a Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary Education from the Ohio State University in 1999. I have taught a variety of ages including middle school and first grade. After taking time off to be a stay-at-home mom and raise my family, I re-entered the classroom in 2018. I have been with Funshine since 2019 and consider it a blessing to spend my mornings with our preschoolers.

Five things about me:

1. I am passionate about my faith and my family. My husband and I have five amazing children!
2. I love making our house a "home" and I enjoy cooking, baking, and interior design.
3. I also enjoy all things outdoors including running, hiking and skiing
4. I collect classic children's literature. Some of our family favorites include, Good Night Moon, The Hungry Caterpillar, The Little House on the Prairie series, Charlotte's Web, Anne of Green Gables, The Chronicles of Narnia, The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings series, and The Green Ember series.
5. Our favorite family vacation spots include, Traverse City and Gatlinburg, TN.

What I love most about my profession:

Teaching children brings me joy! Each student is unique and knowing them enriches my life. I enjoy watching a student learn a new skill and gain confidence. Seeing the growth of students from the beginning to the end of the year is truly rewarding. I hope to help create a loving, nurturing environment where strong relationships are built, and a lifelong love of learning is discovered.
