Reading

• We will be using Reading Wonders during our small-group instruction. 

• Guided and shared reading will be done every day to improve fluency and foster a love of reading. 

• Spelling words and/or Sight Words will be introduced weekly on Mondays and a test will be given each Friday within our small-groups.

Writing

• Students will practice handwriting, punctuation, grammar, and spelling to gain better understanding of the foundational elements of writing.

• Daily journal prompts will be worked on every day to help foster a love of writing within every student! 

Phonics

• We will be using Orton-Gillingham every day to help students understand the foundational elements of reading! This is a wonderful, multi-sensory approach to reading instruction. It focuses on letter recognition and mastery of skills and concepts rather than simple memorization. Students will be able to build their reading skills and their confidence in their abilities!
