Spelling Homework (Monday - Thursday)
Fluency Chart
This chart contains phonetic words/sentences that focus on the spelling concept of the week.
Have your child read the words on top and mark how many words were read correctly.
Please time your child for 1 minute to see how many words he/she can read correctly in the sentences at the bottom of the page. Mark how many he/she read correctly.
You will do this 1x each day Monday - Thursday.
This fluency chart will get handed in on Friday.
Decodable Reader (Monday - Thursday)
A decodable reader will come home each Monday. Your child should read this story each night Monday - Thursday.
Each night they will answer one question from the decodable reader inside their notebook.
The notebook should be handed in each day to be checked.
Red Words (Tuesday - Thursday)
Every Tuesday, your child will learn new RED words, also known as sight words. These words are considered irregular and normally do not follow a phonetic spelling pattern. Therefore, your child is to recognize and memorize these words from sight and should not be sounded out.
practice reading these words each night
practice spelling these words
Will be tested on these words each Friday
Vocabulary Words
Every Monday, your child will come home with vocabulary words that he/she must learn. They should understand the meaning of the words. You can go onto Reading Wonders on the ConnectEd website to see these words as well by clicking the “words to know” tab. These words are also found in our weekly stories that we read together in class, also found on the Reading Wonders website under the "Read" tab.
Every Friday, your child will be tested on these words in class. This test is taken on the computer and it will be multiple choice. The test can be read aloud to students using the speak to text feature (students must have earbuds or headphones). Your child will see the results of the test immediately after.
I encourage you to also check how your child performed on the test by logging into his/her Reading Wonders/ConnectEd site. Reading Wonders Website

Math Homework (Monday - Thursday)
You have the option to keep the Math Home Link workbook either in a safe place at home or in your child’s book bag.
Please check your child’s homework agenda daily to see what he/she has to complete each night.
You or your child will rip out the Math Home-Links page that is assigned for homework each night and once completed, place the homework page inside your child’s blue folder on the “bring back” side to return to school the next day.
The Home-Link that is assigned will be labeled in the top right corner of the page. For example: Home-Link 1-11
At times, I may assign a supplemental worksheet instead of a home link, which means certain home links may not be completed for homework.
Please remember that if this workbook is ever misplaced, you can always print out the home link on the Everyday Math website. Everyday Math Website
