If you are looking to ask me a quick question or tell me something small (ex: "Jessie is running late this morning, but we will be in soon!" or "Can you remind Miles to bring home his charger today, please?") ClassDojo is the best place to do so. I get notified on my phone and computer so I am more likely to see this during school hours as I use both to track our points during the school day. If you have a larger/more in-depth question (ex: Grade inquiries, class trip information, student check-ins) emailing me may be a better place. I try my best to check my email at least once per school day (twice if possible) and will reply within 24 hours. If the question is too detailed though, a good ol' phone call will due too.
If there is ever an emergency, please contact the main office.
Of course you can! Meetings are not only limited to conferences or if your child ends up needing a meeting for a disciplinary reason. You may request a meeting for a number of reasons for either just teacher and parent or even teacher, parent, and student. I am always willing to hop on a phone call if that works best for you, come in a little early to school, have a zoom call, or stay after school to have a quick chat in the classroom. We can stay connected on how your student is doing academically, socially, or of any concerns you may have. My door is always open!
Option 1
Step 1: Don't panic, you have a fourth grader and this happens. The goal is for it to hopefully happen less as the year goes by.
Step 2: Check Google Classroom's "Homework 🏠" tab to find any assignments for the day.
Step 3: If any assignments require the Home Links or Reading Wonders workbooks you can find the digital copies of the pages on the ConnectEd site. No printer? No problem! Have your student write their answers on a piece of notebook paper like the olden days when we were in school. OR If your student has a friend in the grade, they can do their homework together. Some adults have even scanned the worksheets for each other in the past or taken a photo of the questions for their student to use.
Step 4: Send your student to school with completed homework. 👍
Option 2
Step 1: Don't panic, you have a fourth grader and this happens. The goal is for it to hopefully happen less as the year goes by.
Step 2: Remember that their homework was their responsibility. Your student is more than able to solve this problem on their own, BUT if they dont and they come in without their homework the next day then they will receive a zero.
Step 3: Miss Gilardi reminds your student that they have one more day to complete the homework for half credit or their grade remains the same.
Step 4: Let your student figure out the rest 😎
A day- STEAM
B day- ART
C day- COMP
D day- PE
Sneakers are needed for PE!
E day - PE
Sneakers are needed for PE!
F day - Music
If your student lost more than two Dojo points and I did not contact or talk to you in any format then there is nothing to worry about. Your student could have been doing anything from talking out of turn to not having their materials out in time. They may have had an "off" day and I recognize that. I will always reach out if their behavior is concerning. Remember, you can see all of the reasons they lost or gained points on the Dojo app so I encourage you to look. If you have questions, don't hesitate to ask.
Yes! They best way you can help our class is the send in the best student possible. Make sure your student gets a good night's rest as well as breakfast if possible, even if it is something small. Happy students = engaged learning = happy classroom. Want to get something tangible? If you ask your student I'm sure they'll let you know if we are low on any supplies such as wipes, markers, colored pencils, ect. Everything goes "missing" as the year progresses.
