COVID-19 Resources

Boyce Elementary School is operating under a hybrid and virtual learning model at this time. School Counselors and others are available virtually to assist and provide school counseling services to students and parents/guardians. This is a challenging time for all so please be sure to take care of yourself and others and do not hesitate to reach out to us via email if you have any questions or need assistance.

Please refer to this page for resources to help you navigate this challenging time. It is normal for your children (and you!) to feel anxious at this time. I will be updating this page with additional information for you as we continue through the end of the school year, so check back here often.

See the official CCPS Counseling Statement and additional resources for your family here.

If your family is in need of additional support (food, clothing, internet service, concerns about your child, etc.), please let me know by emailing me at soliche@clarke.k12.va.us

How to Talk to Your Kids about the Coronavirus

Most children are likely feeling anxious right now, even if they can't identify or verbalize their feelings. I encourage you to start a conversation with your child about how they are feeling and any fears or stressors they may be experiencing. If you are having trouble talking with your children about what is going on in the world, you are not alone and there are many resources to make this easier!

Is your child still feeling worried? It's OK! Check out Ways To Calm My Worries and A Workbook to Help Kids Cope (Spanish version here)! Your student also has access to a Worry Warriors group every Tuesday on the Guidance Google Classroom (a section in the Specials Google Classroom). Participation is completely optional.

If you feel that your child is experiencing anxiety or worry that is beyond what is normal or that is interfering with their daily life, please email me at soliche@clarke.k12.va.us

In the event of a crisis, always call 911. If your child has expressed thoughts or feelings related to self-harm, the Emergency Room is available as well.
