Welcome to 1B!
I hope your child is ready for a great year. I’m excited to get to know them! This newsletter contains some important information about this year. If you have any questions, don’t hesitate to call or email.
I welcome any visitors to our classroom throughout the year! However, in order to optimize the children’s learning, please limit these visits to an hour or less and not during the first couple weeks or last couple weeks of the school year (per Student/Parent Handout guidelines). If you have any questions on this, don’t hesitate to ask.
Each night, your child will be bringing home their Take-Home Folder. This folder will contain any work your child has done, notes from school, lunch account information, etc. Please, check the folder each night for these items. Also, if you have any information that needs to be sent to me or the school, please send it back in this folder.
We have each child’s regular bus information. If this changes in any way, send a note or call the school so it can be approved. In order to keep all the children safe, we need approval from a parent and the bus barn before we can make any changes.
Specials run on a 5 day cycle this year from 1:15-1:50 and are listed below. Please dress your child appropriately for these specials so they may fully participate in all activities.
Day 1: P.E.
Day 2: Music
Day 3: Art
Day 4: Library/Technology
Day 5: Guidance
We will also be having science with Mrs. Myers from 8:15 to 9:05 on Day 2.
Juice and snack are optional in first grade. We will not have juice from school. However, we will be having snack. ALL students are encouraged to bring a water bottle to leave on their desk throughout the day. In your students Take-Home Folder please notice there is a 1B Snack Schedule. This allows all students the opportunity to bring a snack for the class and prevents a few parents from providing the entire year. If parents would like to send juice for the entire class, they are welcome to do that. Please remember to provide for the entire class when doing this so no one is left out. Each parent is responsible if they’d like to send snacks for their child’s birthday. We will have birthday treats at the end of the day.
Our class discipline system is set up based on Class Dojo. Please see the Take-Home Folder for an explanation of our Class Dojo rewards. If you have any comments or questions, please let me know. It’s important that we all work together to help school be the most positive experience it can for the kids!
Again if you ever have any questions, comments, or concerns, don’t hesitate to contact me! Please try to contact me at school between 7:30-8:00 or 3:15-3:45. My email address is also included below.
Thank you for your support in your child’s education. I’m happy to be a part of it! We will do our best to make this year a success for your child!
Thanks!
