Getting Creative With Centers & Station in the Library - Over the last year, Lauren has explored using centers with the lower grades---primarily pre-k and kindergarten---in response to themed storytimes, during weekly library visits with her students. For example, she recently shared the book Roar: A Book of Animal Sounds about jungle animals and then students had the opportunity to rotate through hands-on centers/stations involving sensory trays, tracing & counting activities, jungle art with coloring, cutting, & gluing, & a playdough fine motor skill-building center. This year, Lauren is beginning to expand her center activities into the upper grades. During this session, Lauren will share examples of the lower grade centers she used last year as well as the centers she is beginning to use with her upper grades.
