I have 3 sons, 3 stepsons, 2 stepdaughters, 3 granddaughters, and 1 living grandson and 1 deceased grandson. My favorite animals are dogs, horses, sharks, and pigs. Ask me why I like pigs...I think you'll like my answer.

I was born in Wilmington, North Carolina, but moved to Georgia when I was 5 years old. I grew up in Doraville, Georgia, where I attended Carey Reynolds Elementary School and Sequoyah High School.

I am a veteran of the Army, having served 12 years in the Army Reserve. During my enlistment, I was stationed in Forest Park, Georgia; took Basic Training and AIT at Fort Jackson, South Carolina; attended PLDC at Camp Blanding, Florida; did several AT's at Fort McClellan, Alabama; and participated in a REFORGER training mission in the Netherlands.

I received my Bachelor's Degree in Middle Grades Math and Science from Piedmont College and my Master's Degree in Educational Administration and Policy from the University of Georgia.

My favorite subjects have always been Earth Science, Biology, Marine Biology, Math, Music, and Reading/ELA.

In high school, I participated in marching band, flag corps (color guard) (I was Captain during my senior year), gymnastics, Drama Club, Science Club, Beta Club, and Kappa Club.
