Service Overview
Operations—
The media center is open daily from 8:00-4:00 to allow students many opportunities for reading, creating, using technology or checking out books in the media center. The media center has flexible scheduling that allows teachers to reserve time to teach their class collaboratively with Mrs. Hinger in the media center while still allowing for students to visit in pairs or small groups at the same time. Teachers may send students in pairs from their classroom to use the media center; please specify on their pass the student’s purpose. Students may visit the media center from lunch with a 5 minute pass from the cafeteria. Teachers may arrange for small groups (larger than 2) to come on their own to the media center, but must first speak to the media staff about this so we will be prepared to assist them. Media staff are available to collaborate with faculty on an appointment or walk-in basis.
Circulation Policy—
Students may check out three books for three week periods (however this is flexible for special circumstances). Students may also check out magazines and reference books for overnight use with prior approval from media staff. Parents/guardians may check out books for themselves or their children as well.
CMS faculty may check out books and some technology items for use during the school year; all books and other instructional materials will be due during post planning. We also offer interlibrary loans to CCSD employees.
