Course Descriptions

Algebra 1

The fundamental purpose is to formalize and extend the mathematics that students learned in the middle grades.  The critical areas deepen and extend understanding of linear relationships, in part by contrasting them with exponential phenomena and in part by applying linear models to data that exhibit a linear trend.  Algebra 1 uses algebra to deepen and extend understanding of geometric knowledge from prior grades.

Algebra 1 Support

The purpose of this course is to address the needs of students who have traditionally struggled in mathematics by providing the additional time and attention they need in order to successfully complete their regular grade-level mathematics course.  We will preview material as well as remediate when needed.  Mathematics Support is an elective class that is taught concurrently with the regular mathematics class.

Algebra 1 Honors

The fundamental purpose is to formalize and extend the mathematics that students learned in the middle grades.  The critical areas deepen and extend understanding of linear relationships, in part by contrasting them with exponential phenomena and in part by applying linear models to data that exhibit a linear trend. Algebra 1 uses algebra to deepen and extend understanding of geometric knowledge from prior grades. We will go beyond the procedure and develop conceptual understanding.
