Class of 2024
Important Dates/Info:
INVITES HAVE FINALLY ARRIVED! If you're out on 5/1 and 5/2 for "Job Shadowing Day," you can still come pick them up. They're in Newton's room.
SENIORS!!! I am still receiving messages from seniors who need a loaner cap and gown! I've been asking for these seniors to contact me since OCTOBER! If you haven't contacted me and need a loaner cap and gown, you're to see me PRONTO!
If you're having a graduation announcement with your picture(s) made, please drop one off to Mrs. Newton in 223! I'd love to add as many of you as possible to my senior wall! <3
READ ALL OF THE GRADUATION WEEK IN FULL BECAUSE IT'S FULL OF VERY IMPORTANT INFORMATION!! The official schedule for graduation week is finally ready to see! You'll need to make all necessary arrangements with work, other responsibilities, etc. because graduation practice is mandatory every single day in order to walk! We've also being telling seniors for months to make their prepartions. (AP testing is obviously excused.) Here's the schedule:
MONDAY (5/13) 8:30 AM-12:00 PM (Practice will be in the arena because they'll be installing the floor on the field.)
TUESDAY (5/14) 8:30 AM-12:00 PM (Practice will be in the arena because they'll be installing the floor on the field.)
WEDNESDAY (5/15) 8:15 AM-3:00 PM-This is the only full day of practice because we're accomplishing multiple things on this day.
Senior breakfast will begin at 8:15 AM, and our phenomenal cafe staff prepares pancakes, biscuits-n-gravy, sausage, bacon, and hashbrowns. The senior breakfast NEVER disappoints for our seniors!
Immediately after breakfast, all seniors will load buses in their caps and gowns for the Clark County "Walk-a-bout!" (No, taking your car isn't an option because we are on an incredibly tight schedule that can only be observed if we're only dealing with minimal vehicles.) We will visit every single school in Clark County where each school will be awaiting our arrival with all students lining the halls and ready to create thunderous applause of congratulations for the C/O 2024 seniors!
We'll return just in time for seniors to attend the last lunch.
As soon as lunch is finished, we'll immediately line up like we'll have practiced on Monday and Tuesday and head to the field for our first stadium practice! By having this one longer day, it'll prevent having multiple days that go well beyond noon. All of the events scheduled for Wednesday are mandatory, too.
THURSDAY (5/16) 8:30 AM-12:00 PM-Football stadium practice
FRIDAY (5/17) 8:30 AM-12:00 PM-FINAL PRACTICE in the football stadium
**If any practice is rained out, it will be moved into the arena.
**All practice times are subject to change based on how smoothly things run.
** "I have to work, babysit, etc." will not serve as excuses. Please do not schedule othodontist appts., dental cleanings, regular check-ups, allergy shots, etc. during the above scheduled practice times. If an appointment of this nature is necessary the week of graduation, you'll be finished early every day (aside from Wednesday) and can schedule for after practice. If a student has to miss for a doctor's appt. due to illness or an emergency, the student will need to return the following day with a doctor's note where we will then decide if it's "excused." We have over 400 graduates, so it's imperative we have 100% attendance. All graduation practices have always been mandatory, so this isn't anything new. Plus, we've been telling everyone for months to make necessary arrangements. We want your ceremony to be an AWESOME one, and participation will ensure that's the case! ;) Again, the ONLY automatically excused absence is for those taking AP testing. If at ANY time you believe you'll have to miss a day, you absolutely must notify Mrs. Cecil and Mrs. Newton through a REMIND text only because we don't want messages being overlooked due to being delivered to multiple sources.
**Seniors will get to leave after practice every day, and those early school dismissals will be excused without any notes being required.
Graduation is Friday, 5/17 @ 7:00 PM. There is NOT a limit to how many invites a senior may give to family and friends. If it looks like it will be rained out, information on the rain date will be provided once it's finalized.
REMINDER ABOUT DECORATING GRADUATION CAP: The district handbook must be followed, i.e., no references to drugs or alcohol and no profanities of any kind, i.e., curse words, racial slurs, etc. DO NOT RISK NOT BEING ALLOWED TO WALK BECAUSE OF A BAD CHOICE!
If you will require a loaner cap and gown, you're to see Mrs. Newton PRONTO to ensure you have one reserved for graduation!
On Tuesday, 4/30, seniors will report directly to the arena. Car riders who are not getting school breakfast are being asked to enter the arena via the outside arena doors by the students' back parking lot to reduce the traffic in the halls as students are making their way to testing rooms. ADDITIONALLY, 12th grade early grads are also invited and encouraged to attend, but it's not mandatory for those kiddos. We'll cover information about all things graduation and will also open the floor for Q & A. Absent students will not be penalized for missing. We ask that everyone arrive by 8:15 AM, so we can get things rolling. Early grads will be able to leave via the same outside arena doors when the Q & A is finished. NOTE: JUNIOR GRADUATES WILL NOT BE ALLOWED TO ATTEND THIS EVENT DUE TO KSA TESTING!
Job shadowing opportunity: Seniors who would like to "job shadow" on Wednesday, 5/1 & Thursday, 5/2 must get a form from the front office or from outside Mrs. Newton's room (223). Every participant is required to get a parent/guardian's signature, even if the senior is 18 years old. Seniors must return their forms by 3:20 PM on Monday, 4/29--NO EXCEPTIONS!!! The sooner you return the form, the better! You don't know if something could come up and cause you to be absent on the due date because this would cost you the opportunity to participate! You can either return it to Mrs. Jones, Mrs. Newton, or Mrs. Moore in the attendance office. Seniors who do not participate will remain in the arena while the remainder of the school is KSA testing.
Senior Sunset will be on Thursday, 5/2. More details are soon to follow. We're hoping for at least DOUBLE the attendees from Senior Sunrise (pictured above)! It would be out of this world to have EVERYONE to make it one we'll never forget! We'll have games, food, etc. We want you all to have as many phenomenal, wonderful memories from your senior year to last a lifetime, Kiddos!
