This pathway focuses on the scientific principles that underline the breeding, care, and management of agricultural animals and the production, processing, and distribution of agricultural animal products. This includes developing better, more efficient ways of producing and processing meat, poultry, eggs and dairy products, as well as studying genetics, nutrition, reproduction, growth and development of animals.

Courses Offered:

Principles of Agriculture

• Recommended for 9th and 10th grade.

Agriscience

• Recommended for 11th and 12th grade students who are enrolling in their 1st Agriculture Class.

Agribiology

• For 10th grade students, this course counts for a science credit and an agriculture credit.

Animal Science

• Recommended for 10th and 11th grade students, focuses livestock animals including cattle, swine, poultry, sheep and goats.

Small Animal Science

• Recommended for 10th through 12th grade students, this course focuses on companion animals, dogs, cats, rabbits, fish and birds. Offered every other year.

Equine Science

• Recommended for 10th through 12th grade students, this course focuses on horses and the horse industry. Offered every other year.

Veterinary Science

• Recommended for 11th and 12th grade students, this course focus on veterinary practices, terminology and methods of animal care.

Dual Credit Animal Science

• Recommended for 11th and 12th grade students, who have had other animal science courses. This course is offered through EKU and provides a college level of animal science including labs.

Ag. Employability Skills

• For 12th grade students taken along with Ag. Co-Op

Ag. Co- Op

• For 12th grade students who are working in the Agriculture Field.
