Counseling Department @ Baker Intermediate:
Welcome to the counseling department at Baker Intermediate! Your school counselors are Emily Daniels and Cindy Whiteside. Your assigned counselor will have you for the two years you are here at Baker. The role of Baker Intermediate’s counselors is to help all students fully develop their academic, career, personal, and social abilities. The Baker counselors can help develop positive attitudes among students toward self, family, and community. Through classroom guidance lessons, individual sessions, and/or group sessions the counseling program may include helping students:
- Develop communication and interpersonal skills needed to relate well to others.
- Make healthy decisions, resolving conflicts, and respecting others.
- Explore career goals, creating positive attitudes toward life-long learning and the world of work
- Develop personal awareness, encouraging appreciation of their unique qualities and growth personally and socially.
Young adolescents benefit most from a team effort involving Baker staff, parents, students and community involvement. We look forward to working collaboratively to identify and remove barriers that may impede student achievement. Please contact the guidance department if/when you would like to meet and discuss a student of concern. If you would like to request the attendance of a student’s counselor during a parent/teacher conference, please contact the guidance secretary regarding availability for the meeting.
We look forward to a great year!
Ms. Daniels & Mrs. Whiteside
