Class overview
In Art at WGE, students will explore a variety of media and be introduced to basic art techniques which are the building blocks of art education, future artists and art lovers. Students will have developmentally appropriate experiences in drawing, painting, printmaking, three dimensional artmaking, art history, media arts and art criticism. Students will be encouraged to (CPRC) Create original works of art, Present their work to others, Respond to other artists and peers, and Connect what they are learning to real world experiences an other disciplines.
Basic drawing techniques help build a stable foundation for a future career in the arts.
Students are allowed to let their creativity flow while learning the basics of clay construction.
A multitude of painting techniques are introduced through engaging activities and lessons.
MEDIA ARTS
Students participate in media arts through a variety of projects that integrate technology into the existing art curriculum. Projects include: photography, stop motion animation, and video production.
About me: Mr. Jessie Welch
Hi, I'm Mr. Jessie! I am starting my 14th year of teaching and my 7th year teaching at Walker Gamble Elementary. A Graduate of Francis Marion University, I received by Bachelors Degree in Art Education in 2009 and a Masters of Education Degree in Teaching and Learning in 2020. I began my career in Florence School District 4 where I served as art teacher at the elementary, middle, and high school levels. I am excited for another year of working with children and sharing with them my love of art.
