Environmental Science, Earth Science, and Physical Science

Environmental Science Class overview

This course is a study of the environment past, present and future. Students will study the many problems present today and what is being done to correct those problems. Topics covered include global warming – pollution (soil, air & water), acid rain, habitual destruction, fossil fuels, vanishing species, and natural resources.

Physical Science Class overview

Physical Science consists of two main concepts: Physics and Chemistry. The physics portion provides the student with scientific principles of physics and chemistry portion provides the student with scientific principles of chemistry. Both use the scientific method. Lab investigations are performed to enhance and reinforce concepts and inquiry.

Earth Science Class overview

Earth Science is the study of the Earth and its neighbors in space. It is an exciting science with many interesting and practical applications. The four basic areas of Earth science study are: geology, meteorology, oceanography and astronomy. Geology deals with the composition of Earth materials, Earth structures, and Earth processes. Meteorology is the study of the atmosphere and how processes in the atmosphere determine Earth's weather and climate. Oceanography is the study of Earth's oceans - their composition, movement, organisms and processes. Astronomy is the study of the universe. Labs will include the study of minerals, rocks, and fossils.
