Jarrett Hurt was the valedictorian of the class of 1990 at Wyandotte High School. He played in the All-State football game in 1990, and he also made All-State in track. Coach Hurt was the state champion in the 110 meter high hurdles in 1990.

Coach Hurt played football at Missouri Southern State College in Joplin, Missouri where he lettered for three years. Coach Hurt graduated with a 4.0 GPA with a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Education in 1994. He was a student assistant for one year and a graduate assistant for two years at Missouri Southern. Coach Hurt earned his Master’s Degree in Secondary School Administration from Pittsburg State University in 1996.

Coach Hurt coached at Broken Arrow High School as an assistant coach for four years from 1996-1999 and he served as the defensive coordinator during his fourth year at Broken Arrow.

Coach Hurt then became the head football coach at Skiatook High School for six seasons and he was also the middle school assistant principal for six years. Coach Hurt was named the Region 7 football coach of the year in 2000 and he led the Bulldogs to the playoffs three times in six years.

Coach Hurt was named the head football coach at Claremore High School prior to the 2016 season after serving as the defensive coordinator for eight years. He has led the Zebras to the playoffs all four years including two trips to the state quarterfinals his second and third years. Coach Hurt was named the Region 3 football coach of the year in 2018. He is also one of the assistant principals at Claremore High School. Coach Hurt served as the Region 3 board member for the Oklahoma Coaches Association for two years. Then, he served a year as the Vice-President and a year as the President of the Oklahoma Coaches Association.

Coach Hurt has been married for 23 years to LaRonna, a reading specialist at Will Rogers Junior High. LaRonna was the district teacher of the year for Claremore Public Schools in 2015. Coach Hurt and his wife have two daughters. Jayla is a freshman at OSU and Jarreka is in the 11^th grade at Claremore High School. Coach Hurt and his family are members of First Baptist Church in Claremore.
