The community in Chautauqua County can stay safe during emergencies by being prepared and following safety procedures. Families can create emergency plans, know where to go for shelter, and keep supplies ready. Listening to local alerts, practicing fire and weather drills, and supporting first responders helps everyone stay calm and protected. By working together and staying prepared, the whole community can respond quickly and safely in any emergency.
The North Lake Fire Department continues to make a lasting impact at Chautauqua Lake Central School and throughout our community by teaching students the importance of emergency preparedness and safety. Their dedication, knowledge, and hands-on demonstrations help empower kids to be ready, stay safe, and care for others in times of need.
Through the continued partnership and efforts of Burl Swanson of the North Lake Fire Department and the collaboration of several other local fire agencies, including the Ashville Fire Department, Chautauqua Fire Department, and the Dewittville Women’s Auxiliary, our elementary students received a total of 260 First Alert Ladders. The Chautauqua Lake Buildings and Grounds Team helped prepare the ladders for distribution ensuring our Chautauqua Lake families strengthened home fire safety across the community, and helping to ensure students have the critical tools needed to apply the fire safety skills they learn at the Chautauqua Safety Village in Ashville.
