Our faith

Catholic school vision

As a Catholic School our vision is to create a safe and caring environment where we can grow in love and faith. To provide support and challenge to help us develop skills and knowledge which will allow us to embrace the future.

Where we aim to:

• Establish an inclusive culture of self-respect where every child can celebrate their uniqueness and use their God given talents.

• Promote an ethos of high expectations and continual improvement where all learners are encouraged to be the best they can be.

• Provide high quality teaching to ensure the engagement of all learners; enabling them to contribute effectively and confidently.

• Provide a faith community based on Gospel Values, where we regularly participate in Liturgies, Sacraments and prayers to nurture faith.

• Promote respect for the faith and cultures of others.

• Develop a sense of wonder about the world we live in; recognising our responsibilities within it.

• Work in partnership with parents, parish and others to enhance and strengthen the learning experiences provided for our children

Our Class Prayers

At St Mungo's RC Primary School, our pupils are taught traditional Catholic prayers. These prayers can be used at home to support parents in developing their children's knowledge of prayer and to continue to develop their children's understanding of what the words mean to us as Christians today.

We have prayers that we say daily.

Morning Prayer

Father in heaven, you love me,

you are with me night and day.

I want to love you always

in all I do and say.

I’ll try to please you, Father,

bless me through the day.

Amen.

Night Prayer

God our Father, I come to say

thank you for your love today.

Thank you for my family

and all the friends you give to me.

Guard me in the dark of night

and in the morning send your light.

Amen.

Grace Before Meals

Bless us, O God, as we sit together.

Bless the food we eat today.

Bless the hands that made the food.

Bless us, O God.

Amen.

Grace After Meals

Thank you, God, for the food we have eaten.

Thank you, God, for all our friends.

Thank you, God, for everything,

Thank you God.

Amen.

Hail Mary

Hail Mary, full of grace,

the Lord is with thee:

blessed art thou among women,

and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus.

Holy Mary, Mother of God,

pray for us sinners,

now and at the hour of our death.

Amen.

Our Father

Our Father, who art in heaven,

hallowed be thy name.

Thy kingdom come.

Thy will be done on earth, as it is in heaven.

Give us this day our daily bread,

and forgive us our trespasses,

as we forgive those who trespass against us.

And lead us not into temptation,

but deliver us from evil.

Amen.

Glory Be

Glory be to the Father,

and to the Son,

and to the Holy Spirit,

as it was in the beginning,

is now, and ever shall be,

world without end.

Amen.
