The Strength and Conditioning Staff is committed to promoting healthy lifestlyes and enhancing the athletic performance of our student-athletes.
1. Minimize Risk of Injury: We work closely with our sports medicine team to use evidence-based principles and methods to reduce our athletes' risk of injury. Specifically, we focus on developing strength, muscular endurance, flexibility, cardiovascular fitness, balance, proprioception and agility.
2. Maximize Athletic Performance: Evidence based programs focused on physiological principles are applied to each individual sport and student-athlete's training program to prepare them for competition. Training programs are developed by evaluting athletes needs and applying principles of progressive overload and periodization.
3. Promote Healthy Lifestyles: While our immediate goal is to prepare student-athletes for competition, our long-term goal is to help our students live healthy lifestyles beyond their athletic careers. This is accomplished by teaching student-athletes proper exercise technique and training practices that can be used throughout life.
