Early Education at CJUSD
Preschool
Preschool is available for students from ages 3 to 4 year olds with birthday on or before December 1, 2022. Eligibility is based on income and family size.
The emotional, social, and physical development of young children has a direct effect on their overall development and on the adult they will become. Preschool enriches children's learning and development opportunities in four main learning areas:
Social-emotional development
Language and literacy
English-language development
Mathematics
Preschool hours vary from 8:00 a.m. -4:00 p.m. depending on the site.
Transitional Kindergarten
Children who turn 5 years of age between September 2, 2022 and February 2, 2023 are eligible for TK
TK is the first year of a two-year kindergarten program that uses hands-on curriculum to develop social and communication skills as well as basic math, literacy and language. The intent of TK is to provide a year of "learning how to learn" and social-emotional growth to young students.
Transitional Kindergarten hours are 7:40 a.m. - 11:40 a.m.
Think Together Expanded Learning
Students enrolled at a Colton Joint Unified School in grades TK - 8 are eligible to attend Think Together
Expanded learning programs focus on developing the academic, social, emotional, and physical needs and interests of pupils through hands-on, engaging learning experiences. It is the intent of the Colton Joint Unified School District in partnership with Think Together that expanded learning programs are pupil-centered, results-driven, and complement, but do not replicate, learning activities in the regular school day and school year.
Think Together hours are 11:40 a.m. - 6:00 PM at most sites
Parents can choose one of these options or all 3 options depending on students' age and needs.
