We are excited to share a new resource for our teachers. We have launched a new AI Resources Page. This page is a central hub where you can find a list of all approved AI tools for student use, helpful guides, and a variety of other resources. The page is a living document and will be continuously updated, so be sure to check back often.
Canva AI is now available to all students. This new tool allows students to create generative text, images, videos, and other creative documents. It's a great way to bring projects to life and explore new ways of learning and expression. Students can access this feature by logging into ClassLink and clicking on the Canva app. Teachers, communicate your expectations and guidelines for AI usage using our new guide and icons.
Our 7-12 curriculum team has developed a new resource to support students in their academic work. As the use of AI tools in education grows, it's important for students to understand how to properly credit their sources. This new guide provides clear instructions on how to cite AI when it's used as a research or writing aid.
Google Classroom's new Resources tab now includes the ability to create and share interactive videos. You can take any YouTube video and add questions, notes, and quizzes directly into it, creating a more engaging and active learning experience for your students. This is a fantastic way to check for understanding as students watch a video, rather than after the fact. Give it a try.
This AI Syllabus Toolkit provides sample language to help teachers clearly communicate expectations around generative AI tools in the classroom. It is a voluntary resource. Feel free to use or adapt it based on your needs. Please check with your administration to determine if there is required language that must be included in your syllabus.
If you'd like to use visual icons to clearly communicate your AI policy on individual assignments, please use this Google Slideshow. These icons were designed to provide a consistent, easy-to-understand way for teachers to communicate AI usage guidelines to students. Copy and paste the icons directly into your own slideshows, assignments, or documents as needed.
Most teachers use percentage-based grading (e.g., tests = 20%), but the Q gradebook does NOT default to this. To ensure grades are calculated accurately and reflect your intended weighting, you'll need to adjust your gradebook settings to enable percentage-based grading. This guide includes instructions for setting up your Q gradebook for percentage-based grading (e.g., tests = 20%)
