We do have a limited number of instruments available at each school site for students to borrow for the school year if they would like to participate in band but can't afford it. If you would like to apply to be considered for one of these instruments, please indicate your need on the band sign up form.
Crestmore, Grant, Grimes, and Zimmerman
Birney, Cooley Ranch, Grand Terrace, Reche Canyon
Grant, Lincoln, Rogers, Smith
Birney, Lewis, McKinley, Sycamore Hills
D'Arcy, Jurupa Vista, Terrace View, Wilson
These instruments are thoroughly cleaned and maintained by the music teachers, but they are used instruments. There may be some scratches and minor dents.
By applying to borrow an instrument, you and your student are committing to participate in the band program for the full school year. This includes almost daily practice at home and attending all classes.
You are financially responsible for loss or theft of the instrument and damages outside of normal wear. Small dings, dents, and minor repairs are common and you will not be responsible for these charges. Please notify your student's band teacher immediately if you notice any damage. Often we can get these damages repaired quickly and inexpensively.
Only the instrument will be provided. Your family is responsible to provide the materials needed to maintain and clean the instrument as well as the band method book. Click here for a printable materials list for each instrument.
If you need to borrow an instrument from the school, please indicate this on the band registration form. Students who borrow an instrument from the school must be unable to provide or rent their own instrument. An instrument lottery will be held during band class to allocate instruments to students who indicated a need to borrow an instrument. Every effort will be made to give your student their first instrument choice, however if the instrument your student chose as their first choice isn't available, your student may need to select their second or third choice instrument. After the lottery, your student's band teacher will email you the digital loan agreement. Once the loan agreement is completed, the band teacher will send the instrument home with the student during a band class.
Instruments and the materials needed to maintain them can be purchased from any music store.
