Black History Experience 2/24/26 @Cooley Ranch. Register Below!
In the Colton Joint Unified School District, we believe that every Black student is brilliant, capable, and deserving of educational experiences that affirm their identity, cultivate their potential, and prepare them to thrive in college, career, and life. Rooted in the principle of Umoja (unity), and guided by the collective wisdom of the African and African American diasporas, we are committed to nurturing the whole student—mind, body, and spirit—through culturally responsive education, academic rigor, and an ethic of love.
Our vision is for Black students to graduate with a strong sense of purpose, self-advocacy, and the academic proficiency necessary for postsecondary success and careers that provide a living wage. We will ensure they are empowered as critical thinkers, creators, and compassionate leaders who honor their heritage, embrace their identity, and contribute meaningfully to their communities.
Through collaborative partnerships with families, educators, and community members, and with intentional access to enriching opportunities—college tours, leadership development, mentorship, cultural exploration, and scholarship support—our Black students will be seen, heard, and celebrated. They will become thoughtful change-makers who embody the Umoja values of unity, self-determination, collective work and responsibility, purpose, creativity, and faith in themselves and their future.
Together, we rise—united in excellence, guided by purpose, and anchored in love.
