Curriculum & Grading 

Another exciting year has begun and I really look forward to being part of your child's educational experience here at Cardinal John Foley Regional School!  Pre-School through 8th Grade will have music  once a week. 

Pre-School & Pre-K

30 minutes 

Kindergarten 

30 minutes 

1st - 4th Grades 

45 minutes 

5th - 8th Grades 

55 minutes 

During our time together we sing, move, listen to, read, write and play music. Lessons are designed using the National Standards for Music Education & the Archdiocesan Curriculum Guidelines.   

National Music Standards 

• Sing alone and with others 

• Perform on instruments alone and with others 

• Improvise melodies 

• Read and notate music 

• Listen to, analyze and describe music 

• Understand music in relation to other arts

• Understand the relationship of music to history and culture 

Students in grades 4 - 8 will receive a grade on their report card.  Below is the rubric that will be used to asses student progress.
