Week at a Glance

Dear Families,

I hope you all had a great weekend! As we continue our theme of “My Family and Friends”, this week we will explore friends and friendship. We will think about how friends are alike and different and how to make and keep friends. The stories we will be reading this week are titled “The Doorbell Rang”, “Same, Same, and Different”, and “Yuna and the Paper Cranes”. The letters we will be reviewing are Cc, Dd, and Nn. 

In celebration of Thanksgiving, we will be doing the 'Disguise a Turkey' project.  This is a family project for you to work on with your child at home.  In your child's folder on Tuesday 11/3 will be a turkey and instructions.  You are to 'disguise' the turkey to make it safe from being cooked for Thanksgiving dinner!  You will have until Tuesday, November 10th to complete this project but I just wanted to give you a heads-up now so you can begin to plan. A message from Mrs. Bedrin: 

It's Best Friend week in Early Childhood!  We will be discussing what makes a good friend as we read Silly Goose's Big Story by Keiko Kasza on Monday.  Even though Goose is often thinking only of himself, his friends still helped him when he really needed it and taught Goose a big lesson about being a friend!  On Tuesday we will be going on a Friendship Parade, following directions and having a great time with our friends and instruments.  We will be learning a new song with sign language, too!  We will make friendship bracelets in art on Wednesday and make a card to give to a friend.  We will spend our time in PE on Thursday paired up with a buddy in a Teamwork Challenge.  See you soon, Besties!
