While Chromebooks are great at being stable and staying up to date automatically, it is possible you need to update to make sure everything is working as intended. Usually the device will update on its own, however you might need to follow the steps below.
Turn on your Chromebook.
At the bottom right, select the time.
Select Settings .
Click the Three Bars next to the title "Settings"
At the bottom of the left panel, select About Chrome OS.
Under "Google Chrome OS," you'll find which version of the Chrome operating system your Chromebook uses.
Select Check for updates.
If your Chromebook finds a software update, it will start to download automatically.
To sign in through Google authentication
Go to classroom.google.com
Enter your school credentials

What if I don’t currently have Wi-Fi access at home?
We are committed to ensuring that every student has access to the internet at home. Students may qualify for either high-speed internet or a district-provided hotspot at no cost through the Chicago Connected program. If you have trouble enrolling, please contact your child’s school so that we can help you get connected.
What happens if our child breaks or damages their school-provided laptop?
We ask you to take good care of the devices. We also understand that things can happen. We will work with you to fix or provide a replacement. If a laptop breaks, you must return the broken laptop to receive a replacement.
