Back to School Night is Thursday, August 31, 2023 @ 6:15 p.m.

The First Day of Classes is Tuesday, September 5, 2023 @ 7:50 a.m.

Parent Summit will be Wednesday, September 6, 2023 @ 6:00 p.m. (virtual event)

what to expect on day one

Students should report to the playground (weather permitting) by 7:50 a.m. on Tuesday, September 5, 2023.

Important Dates to Remember

EVERY FRIDAY THIS SCHOOL YEAR

Every Friday this school year will be a HALF DAY for students - 8:00 a.m. to 12:15 p.m.  We WILL have our Extended Day Program (AfterCare) available each Friday.  Students who remain in AfterCare should bring a lunch.

PreK and Kindergarten Orientation (Day 1)

PreK and Kindergarten students whose last names begin with letter ‘A’ through letter ‘K’ should report to campus at 9:00 a.m.  PreK and Kindergarten students whose last names begin with letter 'L' through letter 'Z' should report to campus at 1:00 p.m.


Students will meet their teacher and other classmates to begin to get accustomed to being in the classroom environment.  Parents, you are encouraged to remain on campus to meet with Mr. Stokes, our principal to discuss expectations, meet one another and answer questions.


Back to School Night | 6:15 p.m.

All parents are invited to meet the principal and staff, your student’s teacher(s), pick up uniforms from the Uniform Exchange Program and ask last minute questions.

PreK and Kindergarten Orientation (Day 2) | 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m.

ALL PreK and Kindergarten students report to campus to gather as a whole class.  Parents DO NOT need to stay this time.

Full Day of Classes| 7:50 a.m. to 3:15 p.m.

Full day of classes for all students, grades PreK through 5th - FIRST DAY OF AFTER CARE

Parent Summit - Virtual | 6:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.

ALL parents are invited to gather remotely (over zoom) for our first parent summit.  During this time our administration will discuss in detail information distributed on Back to School Night; convey the vision for the year, expectations and highlight major events.

Final Report Cards (for 22-23)

Final report cards are available via your student portal account. 

Your username is your email address. 

If you have forgotten your password, you may reset your password by going to cityschool.org →  click on “LOGIN” in the upper right corner  →  then click “Can’t access your account?”  → follow the on screen instructions to reset your password.

Medical Forms

Don’t forget your medical forms! Medical forms need to be completed before the first day of school.  These forms include medical history, immunization record, physical and dental exams. The State of Pennsylvania requires all children entering school to be up-to-date with their immunizations.  Children who are not in compliance with the state requirements will not be permitted to enter The City School until their health requirements are up-to-date. 

(COVID-19 Vaccinations are NOT required at this time.)

Transportation

Philadelphia Residents: 

For students,  grades 1-5, bus transportation is available through the Philadelphia School District.  In August, you should receive a postcard with information about your student’s route, stop location and pick up time.  If you have questions about your request, please contact Mrs. Delaney at 215.769.5363.


Suburban Residents:

Please check with your school district for more information. Some districts provide busing to our campus, some do not.  You must register with your local district for transportation.


Car Riders:

If you plan to pick-up and drop-off your student, we ask that you use the car line or park on the street and WALK up to our front entrance on 24th Street.  Please DO NOT stop in the middle of 24th Street to allow your student to enter or exit your vehicle.

Uniforms

Flynn & O’hara is currently the official uniform vendor for The City School.  Uniforms can be purchased at www.flynnohara.com

Lunch

Lunch will be available beginning Monday, September 11, 2023

Lunch is available through Yay! Lunch and must be ordered in advance, by Saturday evening of the week prior

Due to half days on Fridays, there will be NO lunch service.  Students who remain for AfterCare should bring a lunch. 

To begin ordering lunches, go to the  link below and follow the instructions on the attached registration letter to create your account or to login to your existing account.

Even if you are familiar with Yay! Lunch, be sure to keep an eye on their site for exciting updates regarding hot lunch service for next year.

If your student is returning to The City School, be sure to adjust your student’s grade level and select that your student attends the Fairmount Campus.
