WELCOME, CLASS OF '25!
WELCOME, CLASS OF '25!
Most colleges request for official final transcripts to be sent by July 1 of your graduation year. (We will be working on finalizing the documents to send during the last two weeks of June to meet that deadline.)
All final transcript requests for the most recent graduates for college enrollment are processed through the graduate's SCOIR account (through July 1 of your graduation year). Make sure that your SCOIR account has been updated prior to July 1 to reflect the college where you are enrolled in the fall (or spring). (This step will generate an automatic request for us to process the request!)
An unofficial, electronic copy of your transcript will be sent before or by July 1 if you have a personal contact email on file with SCOIR.
Final transcripts can only be released by The City School if:
all graduation requirements have been met AND
there are no outstanding account balances, fines, missing books, Chromebooks, etc.
Please note: Official transcript copies are free to the most recent class for the 12-month period after graduation and can be requested via email (if after July 1 of your graduation year when your SCOIR account migrates your account to alumni status.) All other alumni transcript requests are completed via Parchment (links here and on the main pages of the Alumni Hub.)
TRANSCRIPT FAQs
Q: What's the difference between an official and unofficial transcripts?
A: Both types of transcript are fundamentally identical documents, but the difference is how they are submitted and to whom.
An official transcript is delivered directly from the issuing institution (The City School) to another institution (a college, an employer, a background check agency, etc.), usually by the request of the graduate. Additionally, official transcripts usually bear a signature of a school official.
If it is an electronic copy, it is transmitted directly to the requesting institution via secure upload, email, or sending service -- done on the graduate's behalf by a school official.
If it is a printed copy, the transcript is usually embossed with the school stamp and sealed in an envelope. After it is sealed in the envelope, it can be mailed directly to the institution or picked up from the school office by the graduate to hand deliver (if allowed by requesting institution). The transcript remains official, even if handed to the graduate, as long as it remains in the unopened envelope and is opened only by the requesting institution.
The unofficial copy you receive in your email will be unsigned and will be suitable for your basic personal recordkeeping. You can download the copy to store in your electronic files or print copies for your physical files. Some requestors will accept unofficial transcripts as sufficient proof (so you can submit what you have) but others will require official copies, so you'll need to communicate with The City School if you need an official transcript sent.

Your City School Gmail address may be deactivated on or soon after August 1 of your graduation year. To retain access to your emails and Drive documents, follow this procedure via your Google Account to transfer your data.
Step 1: Log in to your City School Google Account.
Step 2: Click your photo/icon in the upper right corner (where you would click to log-out or switch between Google accounts.)
Step 3: Click the "Manage Google Account" button, located under your profile picture.
Highlighted in yellow on the picture (right).
Step 4: Find the option to Transfer your content.
(It may be nested under "Data and Personalization" navigation panel.)
Click "Start transfer."
Step 5: Enter your personal Gmail account email address. It will send a verification code to that email address (so you do need ready access to your Gmail inbox to fetch the verification code.)
Step 6: Enter the verification code provided in the email. Look for the green checkmark next to "Account Verified."
Step 7: Select the contents you'd like to transfer over to your account: Drive files and/or Gmail messages.
Step 8: Click the blue "START TRANSFER" button to begin the transfer.
The transfer will not be successful if your personal Gmail account does not have enough storage. If need be, you may need to create a new Gmail address or delete old files in order to complete the transfer.
