Meet with Ms. Cohen
All about me drawings in preparation for our self portrait.
2nd graders are developing their own stories with a beginning middle and end. The stories must have at least 1 character and a setting. To bring their stories to life, students are creating stick, finger and hand puppets. We even had a student try a marionette! Stay tuned for more puppets!
5th Grade persevered with a challenging printmaking technique at home. Using a piece of styrofoam, washable markers and some water, students created these monoprints. It was a challenge the get the right about of marker and water to transfer the design. A big shout out to the 5th graders for sticking with the process and creating some great prints.
Students designed an advocacy sticker for a topic/issue that they care about and support. Students created drawings that emphasized black and white contrast as well as images and symbols that would communicate their message. The drawings were then digitized in preparation for printing!
This week we learned about radial symmetry. We used a digital drawing website to play around with mirroring
In preparation for our sculptural headpiece project, students in second grade played with different paper techniques. It was so great to see busy hands in our virtual class!
Mr. Doodle was our inspiration this week. We watched some videos of Mr. Doodle creating his artwork and shared some of our observations.
2nd Grade slowed their art making down last week and created drawings of objects they had around their house. Many students chose items that were important to them. It was great to see the attention to detail and perseverance working on this task independently.
To get our hands back in art making mode, we played around with continuous line drawings. First we experimented with writing words that are all connected (like cursive) and then moved on to images.
We investigated how our drawings changed when we were forced to work under limited time constraints. How do you think your drawings would change?
