This means the student has NOT requested support from the Access and Inclusion team but wants the tutor to know.
Talk to the student and make time to check how you can best support them.
Ask the student if they want to talk to the Access and Inclusion team - you need their consent to refer them.
Check out the Information Sheets area covering a wide range of access and support needs. This can be found on the main menu.
Contact our team for advice - our details are at the bottom of every page.
This means the student has already been assessed by the Access and Inclusion team. Please go to your EBS register and click on the RAP.
The RAP will identify potential barriers to a student’s learning, and will advise on reasonable adjustments and strategies you can use in class (or online) to support them.
The plan will include the email of the coordinator/specialist who assessed the student (SpLD, Disability or Deaf support) so you can contact them directly if you have any questions about the content of the plan.
Try and arrange a time to talk with the student - in confidence . You could say you have noticed they are having some difficulties, or ask them how they are finding the course. They might not want to disclose anything , but you have opened up a line of communication.
You can offer to put them in touch with the Access and Inclusion team or (with their consent), you can refer them to our team by email.
Try speaking to the whole group about the support that the college has available - mention all services.
Consider whether you are able to offer a 1 to 1 with every learner so they do not feel like they are being singled out.
