26 weeks and counting
In the words of the Gladiators - Challengers are you READY!
Year 11 is one of the most significant and grueling times in your life, not only are you combating the emotional and physical shifts, but you have to do this while trying to remember everything you have ever been taught and write it all down in 90 mins or less.
This years Year 11 will have to show resilience, determination, strong work ethic and an ability to adapt. The territory they are entering into is not about making it to the grade boundary it is about maximising what they can achieve in every aspect of life and academic education.
Our support for them will remain constant and there are many more measures we have added to make sure they are catered for:
Well trained and hand selected PDG staff - Mr Padvar, Miss Leavy, Mr Pearson offering skills for life and building on knowledge they as young people have asked for.
Expert Academic Mentors - Miss Johnson, Mr Groves, Mrs Beaumont, Mrs Oldroyd, Mr Milner, Miss Guest, Mrs Kosir focusing on English, Maths and Science.
One to one tutors - Mrs Render, Mrs Hillman,
This website aims to capture the key information that we would normally share in person. If you have any questions or would like to discuss anything further please get in touch.
There will be regular updates from exam boards and resources that will support students. Please see the latest update for JCQ - exam board advisory group.
It goes without saying that this year is going to be arguably the most demanding that students will face in their academic journeys. Since they joined OACF in September 2021 I have been there to support, guide and intervene in any possible way I can to ensure we are setting these brilliant (not so little) people up to have as much success as possible. It isn't solely possible for an individual to do this alone. We talk about having a triangle where Parents, Staff and Students are all accountable for supporting each other through this journey. This year more than ever we all need to be doing everything we possibly can to give each student the best opportunity to be successful and make sure they reach and even exceed their potential.
They have made a strong start to this year however there is always room for improvement and one thing we are really trying to focus on is engaging them with their enrichments after school. This is so key to them succeeding, so please encourage them where possible to stay for their enrichments and push themselves.
There will be ups and downs throughout the whole year. I will be there alongside them every step of the way in whatever capacity they require from an arm around the shoulder to offering tough love if needed! I will do everything possible to support them academically, personally, emotionally and hopefully come August when they open their envelopes, it will have all been worth it.
Please reach out to me for anything at all.
Mr Duffy - Year 11 Learning Manager
