Offshore wind is a rapidly growing industry with jobs in the sector set to increase by more than 10,000 by 2030 as the UK aims to meet its net zero ambitions. Sofia Offshore Wind Farm will contribute to that ambition, providing clean green electricity to the equivalent of 1.2 million homes one completed.

The site itself is on Dogger Bank located 195km from the North East coast, while onshore the power will come to shore between Redcar and Marske-by-the-Sea. A new converter station will be built in Teesside along with onshore cable to carry the generated power. Construction starts this year.
