CITATIONS MADE EASY IN GOOGLE DOCS
STEP 1: Works Cited (MLA) or References (APA) page
Click on " + Add Citation source," and Copy & Paste a URL, book title & page number, or other source into Tools>Citations as you are taking notes or drafting your paper.
Click the button "Insert Works Cited" and the Google Doc citation tool will paste the full citation into a Works Cited (MLA) or References page (APA) at the end of your paper.
STEP 2: In-Text Citations
To insert your in-text citation, go to your paper first and place your cursor right after the quotation marks or at the end of your paraphrase.
Then, in Tools>Citation, hover over the full citation you want and three dots will appear; click on "Cite" and it will paste the proper formatting of your in-text citation wherever your cursor is.
CHECK THE MACHINE
Use your intelligence to edit this automated citation process:
Add the author, if you know it.
Add the year of publication, if it is easy to find (at the end of a website).
NOTE: Any citation (at the end of your paper) always starts with a title OR author's last name.
