WANTS YOU TO KNOW...
OPENING OUR DOORS FOR THE FIRST DAY OF SCHOOL FOR THE 25th TIME!!
City Academy is one of Utah’s original eight
tuition-free public charter schools.
25 years ago, City Academy founders Nancy Winitzky, Tracy Stevens, Peggy McCandless, and Sonia Woodbury had a vision of providing an inspiring, personalized, worthwhile education that would impact students and help launch the rest of their lives both as individuals and as citizens of our communities.
At City Academy we often say, "We are preparing the types of knowledgeable, caring, community-involved people you would want to live next door to."
To accomplish this, learning through service and community engagement is an integral part of our curriculum from 7th-12th grades in all classes, and through senior service learning internships.
We are grateful for our developing partnership with Gifted Music School, with whom we now share a campus. Even through state budget cuts over the last 25 years, City Academy has maintained a strong commitment to the visual and performing arts as an integral part of a good education.
Each day at school, our students are not merely completing credits, they are investigating, thinking, analyzing, and learning in personally rigorous and preparatory ways in every class. We have incredible teachers and staff members who choose to teach at our school and are so passionate about this work with their students. It is a joy to see these teachers taking the time to listen to each student and inspire their individual growth.
This 25th year, we are honoring and celebrating our past – and – we are re-dedicating ourselves to our mission and our future.
We look forward to serving the Salt Lake City community and our students for 25 more years. Watch for more exciting additions to our curriculum and our school coming soon!

This award comes with a prize of $10,000 to help our school enhance computer science education for our students.
We are proud of Mr. Pedersen’s hard work and commitment that have earned him this very deserved award and we look forward to the new educational opportunities in computer science that we will be able to offer our City Academy students.

We will begin by providing preparation and offering certifications for Microsoft Technology Associate (MTA) and Adobe Certified Associate (ACA). As we expand our program, we will continue offering students more opportunities for industry recognized certifications.
