Structure of monas

 

Lingga and Yoni

      The towering monument encapsulates the philosophy of Lingga and Yoni. Lingga resembles an alu rice pestle and Yoni resembles a lesung rice mortar, two important traditional Indonesian tools. Lingga and Yoni also symbolize harmony, balance, fertility and eternal life with the lingga phallic symbol, representing masculinity, positive elements, and daytime and the Yoni the female organs symbol, representing femininity, negative elements, and night.

Flame (Lidah Api)


At the top there is a cup on which there is a bronze flame that is 17 meters high and 6 meters in diameter and weighs 14.5 tons. This flame is coated by gold of 45 kg weight. The Monas flame consists of 77 parts joined together. 


Peak Court (Pelataran Puncak)


Peak Court (Pelataran Puncak)The peak court is 11×11 m wide. To reach the top court, visitors can use the elevator with a journey time of about 3 minutes. Around the elevator there are emergency stairs. From the top of the National Monument, visitors can see skyscrapers in the city of Jakarta.

Lower Court

The lower courtyard is 45×45 m wide. The height from the base of the Monas to the lower court is 17 meters. In this section visitors can see Monas Park which is a beautiful urban forest.
