17th to 18th January 2025

REWILDING

FUTURES

Shaping Tomorrow's Wild

The David Attenborough Building & University of Cambridge

Please note, the final programme will be published in January. Please see the list of confirmed speakers below and participating organisations in the menu above. With limited tickets and high demand, we encourage anyone interested in attending to secure their tickets as soon as possible.

From January 17-18th, Citizen Zoo are hosting the 2025 Rewilding Conference in Cambridge. In the years since the 2019 Rewilding Symposium, the sector has expanded and transformed dramatically, with more rewilding widely recognised and gaining traction across the planet. Now, as nature recovery enters a new era, we ask what the future holds for rewilding in the coming decades.

A two-day summit of talks, panel discussions, activities, and workshops.

Over two days in January 2025 the conference will bring together leading voices in rewilding to tackle pivotal issues in the field with unmissable presentations, expert panels, audience Q&As, networking opportunities and more, all hosted at the world-renowned David Attenborough Building at the University of Cambridge.

The 2025 conference will host over 450 participants from around the globe, including industry professionals, academics, landowners, NGOs, government bodies, and the private sector, all united by a passion for ecological restoration and conservation. In addition to presentations, there will be opportunities to participate in various networking events, workshops, panel discussions and more.

True to the spirit of rewilding, we want to avoid prescribing specific outcomes. Instead, we aim to create an open, dynamic space for discussion, free thought, and creativity - a fertile ground for fresh ideas and collaboration.

Day 1

A day of talks, lectures and panel discussions in the Babbage Lecture Theatre at The University of Cambridge.
This day will be curated to showcase invited speakers from the world at the forefront of rewilding, and all attendees take part on this day.
This day will end with an evening reception in the adjacent David Attenborough Building which all attendees and speakers are invited to so we can encourage networking and idea sharing.

Day 2

A day of talks, lectures, panel discussion, activities and workshops at The David Attenborough Building and the Babbage Lecture Theater at the University of Cambridge.
This day will be more participatory, with a mix of invited speakers and speakers who have submitted proposals to showcase their own work. On this day, talks and other activities will occur simultaneously throughout the day across the Babbage and David Attenborough Building.
On this day, attendees will curate their own itinerary through our booking app called Sched, on a first come, first served basis.

Organiser

At Citizen Zoo, we are working to create a world filled with wildlife. A world filled with the full spectrum of diversity, beauty, and abundance in nature.

We realise this mission by restoring habitats back to their functional states, reintroducing species to their former ranges, and empowering people and communities to take action in protecting their local nature.

We’re an organisation dedicated to rewilding, made up of a passionate team and volunteers around the country working to restore nature and help species and habitats thrive.

We are members of the Cambridge Conservation Forum, a network of nature conservation organisations that as a collective, are a member of the Cambridge Conservation Initiative, who together have kindly supported Citizen Zoo's work in organising this exciting conference.
