What types of programs are available at the CTE BOCES, and how do they support career readiness?
We offer 18 different CTE programs from Culinary Arts and Nursing Assistance to Welding and Automotive Tech. Each program is geared toward a specific industry pathway based on student interests and future goals. Each CTE program teaches personal and general or “soft” employability skills. Each CTE program further reinforces these by teaching their program specific technical skills which complement and support other work readiness skills.

Who can enroll in CTE programs, and what are the eligibility requirements?
CTE Programming is open to all Juniors and Seniors in Oswego County attending one of our nine component districts. Students are held to a high standard and are expected to be on track for graduation in order to enter and participate in the ½ day CTE programming.
How do CTE programs align with high school graduation requirements?
The curriculum for each program is aligned with their specific industry standards as well as NYS Graduation Requirements. CTE programming offers students the opportunity to earn credits necessary for graduation (elective, Math, Science, ELA, PE, etc.). Additionally, students who successfully pass their programming and precision exam(s) at the end are eligible to use this pathway as their 4+1 option toward the NYS Regents Exam Requirements. What career opportunities are available after completing a CTE program?
Students work closely with their instructors, counselors, and career center to develop post-secondary plans and while each path and student may be different, we have staff here that helps make and build connections with industry professionals to ease that transition from our programming to the world of work.
Is transportation provided to and from the BOCES campus?
Yes, students receive transportation to and from CiTi by their home districts.
Are there any costs or fees associated with participating in CTE programs?
There are NO COSTS to students or parents for CTE programs. All texts, uniforms, materials that are needed for the program are provided by CiTi BOCES at no cost to the family.
What kind of support is available for students who struggle academically or need additional help?
Beyond our supportive instructional staff, we also have 3 school counselors to meet with students regarding academic concerns as well as personal/social, or college, career related concerns.
Can CTE students participate in internships or work-based learning opportunities?
Yes, we highly encourage and require this for many of our students across the various programs. Our Career Center is a terrific resource for students looking forward to gaining information or experience regarding internships and other WBL opportunities.
How do students balance CTE classes with their regular high school courses and extracurricular activities?
Like any other setting, students are expected to be respectful, responsible, and safe. This will require students to call on their time management, organization, personal, and other skills that are necessary for any working professional. Each student is different and the way each student balances or prioritizes responsibilities may differ, but we expect students to be able to manage their time, stay organized and on task, use their problem-solving abilities, and to reach out for support if they need.
